Art Nouveau c1890-1910 VERY RARE
ONLY ONE LEFT!
This antique deer stag rhyton, made of solid bronze in an Art Nouveau style, dates back to the early 1900s. Originating from Austria, but possibly France or Belgium, the piece stands at 9 inches tall and weighs 3 pounds. With a unique design featuring a stag's head, this rare drinking stein is a timeless and collectible item that exudes historical charm and craftsmanship. Perfect for anyone who appreciates antique pieces with a touch of elegance and rarity.
The era of these pieces prove to be c. 1890 to 1910, the Art Nouveau Era. The composition is solid cast bronze. There is no definite place of origin, but most likely comes from Austria/Hungary or France or Belgium. I pulled off the bottom felt pad to help validate the dating of the items. The items have dark, rough interiors with a central sprue scar, which is indicative of sand-cast bronze moulding. the presence of irregular copper/ green oxidation around the rim shows long periods of aging. There are no modern screws, plugs, or seams in the items and the presence of an uneven hand finished base is typical of a late 19th century to early 20th century European bronze metalworking.
